Holiday Fun with your Pet
There is nothing like being in New York during the holidays. While the city and its boroughs are full of festive activities, it's even more fun to bring your pets along to enjoy the variety of places that welcome them.
Here at Prospect Park Animal Clinic — your veterinarian in Brooklyn — we're known for great vet care. But we also have plenty of options all around us — from public parks to coffee shops and bars —that are incredibly pet-friendly during the holiday season and beyond.
Check Out the Lights Displays
New York is filled with some pretty amazing holiday displays that get bigger and better every year. One of the best can be found in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn. Each year, the homes in the area are covered with thousands of twinkling lights (and in some years, snow being pumped from a machine). Hot chocolate is usually available for sale, so grab a cup as you and your pup take in the sights and sounds from 11th Avenue to 13th Avenue, and from 83rd to 86th Street.
Browse the Pet-Friendly Holiday Markets
During the holiday season, New York is filled with a number of dog-friendly holiday markets. One of the most popular is Bryant Park's open-air market, with hundreds of boutiques and vendors and even an ice rink. It's located close to Times Square (so you'll have to make the trip from Brooklyn), but the small-town charm of this market is not to be missed.
If you need to get out of the cold, New York City has many dog-friendly stores with some amazing holiday decorations.
Bake Some Treats, Make an Ornament
If you're home for the holidays, you can find plenty of seasonably-appropriate treat recipes for your pup, including dog-friendly gingerbread cookies. You can also create an ornament for your pet like a clay paw print.
No matter what the season brings, be sure to keep your pet safe. Our staff at Prospect Park Animal Clinic in Brooklyn will be here if you need us. Just call 718-768-6125. Happy Holidays!
