Oscar here. Anyone who owns a pet—and anyone who one day hopes to—is well aware of the benefits of having a furry friend to come home to. But for the most part, those benefits are emotional rather than tangible. Loving kisses when you come home. A furry bud to snuggle with in bed. Constant companionship. Someone who never disagrees with you and rarely talks back.
But soon, the benefits of animal adoption, specifically for rescuing a stray, are potentially about to become more material as well. There's a new law on the table in New York state that would give parents who adopt pets from animal shelters 125 dollars for each pet they bring home! This new law would obviously encourage hopeful pet parents to #Adoptdontshop because there are still oodles and oodles of amazing mutts and stray cats up for adoption. And as a non pure-bred kitty myself, I can attest to the fact that we're every bit as special as those pure bred ones.
As if you needed any more incentive to rescue a pup rather than visiting a breeder, here it (hopefully) is!
Til' next time,
