I know most of you think social media is merely an outlet by which people share(oftentimes) inappropriate facets of their personal lives, overshare pictures of their babies, or their dogs, or their cake decorating projects, or even, pimple popping videos. And for the most part, I concur with your general belief that social media can be a bit..indulgent. But then there are those time when I see social media being put to good use and it warms the cockles of my tiny little kitty heart.
Last week, a very special dog named Itty (@ittystagram) took ill. When her mom brought her to the vet, it turned out she had diabetes which, when compounded with some other pre-existing auto-immune conditions turned out to be a dangerous combo. Firstly, I wanted to say that over here at the PPAC, our thoughts are with her and her mom and we know she'll pull through! But what was really remarkable to me about this whole situation was how the dogs of instagram rallied around her. Her boyfriend, Ralphie (@Ralphienyc) posted a super sweet pic of himself and his beloved wishing her a full recovery. Khaleesi (@Khaleesinyc) wrote Itty a super sweet card. And the #getwellitty got some special shout outs as well.
So even if social media may seem like a waste of time to most, there are some who find ways to put it to really good use. And hopefully, this blog will reach even more people who can send special thoughts to a special dog named Itty.
Til' next time,
