If you're an animal, it's likely you haven't attended many weddings. That's because weddings are typically formal events where dogs and cats (and other furry friends), are believed to have no role. Well, Dr. Nick and Dr. Bess turned this idea on its head last weekend when they were joined in holy matrimony in an absolutely magical ceremony in Vermont. As two animal lovers, animals were more than welcome to attend (and many of the guests did in fact bring their pooches!).
But one of the best parts of this incredible event was the fact that Bess and Nick's dogs were a part of the ceremony. Their three dogs have been staples in their lives and in their burgeoning romance over their years, so it seemed only fitting that they attend the wedding and play a part in it, too. I know, I should be insulted their two cats weren't invited but it just wasn't feasible to let cats roam free in Vermont so they get a pass.
Nick's sisters, Jamie and Sydney walked Annie and Lucy—the flower b**ches as they were so fondly called—down the aisle and Bess' brother and sister, Ian and Jane, walked Ebby, the Ring Bear. All three dogs, festooned in flower wreaths, remained up at the altar throughout the ceremony. I've been told their presence made the event all the more special.
So next time you're planning a wedding, consider finding a way for your furry friends to play a part—we're family, too!
Til' next time,
