When you think about household pets in Park Slope Brooklyn, you probably think cats, dogs. Maybe a ferret, turtle, guinea pig, bird, or if you go really crazy, a chinchilla even.
But, travel outside of our little Brooklyn neighborhood, even an hour or two outside of the city, and you might find goats, horses, chickens, ducks, or little piggies as pets. That's farm life for you.
Now, expand your purview even wider, hop on a plane and travel to another country, and the pets change further still. Last week for instance, Dr. and Mrs. Silverman took a trip to Morocco where, as you can see in the above pic, the animals look quite a lot different than those round these parts.
The dromedaries, complete with their humps, are great for traveling through the desert but far less equipped for apartment dwelling (they'd feel pretty cramped in most homes in the slope!)
The Silvermans are avid travelers and one of my favorite things to hear about upon their returns from their travels, are the different animals they encounter while touring the world. Pets abroad take on all different shapes and sizes but I think the camels may be my favorite yet.
