Oscar here. If you're an avid follower of this blog, you'll recall that between all of the members of the Silverman clan, they've explored quite a large chunk of the world. They've played with monkeys in Morocco, hung with—and drank—poop coffee from the Luwak in Indonesia, pet elephants in India, even hung with the street cats of Turkey.
Through all this, you'll notice a trend—as animal lovers, my family, the Silvermans, always find ways to integrate animals into their adventures. And Dr. and Mrs. S.' recent trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos was no exception.
On top of spending some time in the capital of Ecuador, Quito, they spent five days on a boat getting up close and personal with the local animals (and maybe a little sea sick). They hung with sea lions, like the handsome fella above, Christmas colored iguanas, albatrosses (the bird featured in this awesome song), turtles and more. Aside from the incredible experience of seeing these majestic creatures in their natural environment, for better or worse, these particular animals are so used to human interaction that they are totally cool with letting visitors get really close to them. So close you could almost touch them in fact—which just added to the experience.
Oh and just as some added cute, each night on the boat, the boat crew went to each room and created animal shaped towel creatures for the guests to see when they returned (one of which is pictured above).
Though I may be a mere house cat, I for one feel lucky to have the chance to get exposed to a world of animals through my family's travels.
Til' next time,
